EquiSpend
Terms of Service
Last updated 26 September 2026
Draft — this text is being reviewed and may change before EquiSpend launches.
These terms are an agreement between you and [Legal name of the owner], trading as MetricArc Studios (“we”, “us”), about using the EquiSpend app. By creating an account or using EquiSpend, you agree to them. Please read them; they’re written to be clear.
What EquiSpend is — and isn’t
EquiSpend helps you record shared and personal expenses, see who owes whom, and track your spending.
- EquiSpend only records money. It is not a bank, wallet or payment service, and it never moves, holds or sends money. When you pay someone, you do it in your own UPI app, bank or in cash; opening your UPI app from EquiSpend is just a shortcut.
- Balances are based on what you and your group members enter. Check amounts before you pay anyone.
- Receipt reading is automatic and can make mistakes. Always check the details before saving.
- Insights, budgets and reports are for your own information. They are not financial, tax or legal advice.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract under Indian law. EquiSpend is intended for use in India.
Your account
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
Groups and what you share
- What you add to a group — expenses, payments, comments, receipts — is visible to its members.
- When you add a friend who isn’t on EquiSpend, you confirm you have a reasonable basis to share their name and contact details for splitting costs.
- Only the person who received a payment (or, for a friend not on the app, a group admin other than the payer) can confirm it.
- Disagreements about who owes what are between the people involved. We don’t decide them and aren’t responsible for money owed between users.
EquiSpend Plus
- The free plan includes up to 8 receipt scans or uploads a month (receipts we can’t read don’t count), plus everything needed to split and settle up.
- Plus costs ₹99 a month or ₹799 a year (prices include applicable taxes and may be shown in your store’s currency). Plus adds unlimited scans, split by item, full insights, category budgets and reports.
- New subscribers can get a 7-day free trial, once. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You are charged by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and their terms and refund policies apply.
- Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. You keep Plus until the end of the period you’ve paid for; we don’t give partial refunds for unused time.
- If we change the price, we’ll tell you in advance, and the change applies from your next renewal.
- We may change what is included in the free plan or in Plus. If a change reduces what you’ve already paid for, we’ll tell you first.
Using EquiSpend fairly
Don’t use EquiSpend to:
- break the law, including money laundering or fraud;
- harass, threaten or mislead other people, or add people who don’t expect it;
- upload content that is unlawful, abusive, or that you don’t have the right to share;
- try to access other people’s data, break our security, overload the service, or copy or reverse-engineer the app.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and remove content that breaks them.
Your content
What you add to EquiSpend stays yours. You give us permission to store, process and show it only as needed to run the service for you and your groups, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Other services
EquiSpend works with apps and services run by others, such as UPI apps, WhatsApp, Google and Apple. Their own terms apply when you use them, and we aren’t responsible for them. On iPhone, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.
Availability and changes
We work to keep EquiSpend running smoothly, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may improve, change or stop features. If we ever shut EquiSpend down, we’ll give you notice and a way to download your data.
Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time from Me → Privacy & data. Shared expenses stay in their groups under “Former member” so others’ balances stay correct. We may close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
Our responsibility to you
EquiSpend is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for: amounts entered wrongly, payments made or not made between users, decisions you make based on the app, or losses that we could not reasonably foresee.
To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Plus in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000 if that is more. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Indian consumer law that can’t be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using EquiSpend after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Please contact us first so we can try to sort out any problem. If we can’t, the courts in [City] will have jurisdiction.
